The Art of Poetry

V pátek dne 27. května od 18 hodin se bude v Italském kulturním institutu v Tokiu ( Instituto Italiano di Cultura) konat večer poezie zemí Evropské Unie „The Art of Poetry“, který vznikl ve spolupráci s kulturními institucemi clusteru EUNIC Tokyo. Za Českou republiku se svými básněmi ze sbírky „Zimní dvůr“ vystoupí básník Bohdan Chlíbec. Kromě českých básní si návštěvníci sympozia budou mít možnost poslechnout v původním jazyce poezii dalších 7 evropských zemí, která bude přednášena samotnými autory a zároveň doprovázena japonským překladem. Těšíme se na Vaši účast.

The Art of Poetry

Poetry has always been one of the main instruments used by humankind in order to express the widest range of feelings and emotions: love, rage, passion, despair, faith, the horrors of war, the marvel when facing the beauty of nature… The power of words is such that literally everything can be expressed through them, and always will.

Despite their astounding diversity, European literatures can be seen as one thanks to their common roots, i.e. the Greek and Latin civilizations, as well as thanks to the fact that, through translation, communication between them has been constant across the centuries.  Therefore “The Art of Poetry”, the upcoming event organized by the EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) Tokyo cluster, can be seen as the perfect example of a unity that is made of continuous dialogue and fruitful exchanges.

The eight participating Countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain) will present for the first time in Tokyo an impressive array of poets, musicians, and performers who will offer a unique poetic and multimedia journey across different countries, languages, centuries, and styles.

The readings and performances will be in the eight original languages, with projected Japanese translations.

Organizers: Austrian Cultural Forum Tokyo, Camões I.P. – Portugal, Czech Centre Tokyo, Embassy of Ireland in Tokyo, Goethe-Institut Tokyo, Instituto Cervantes Tokio, Instytut Polski Tokio, Italian Cultural Institute of Tokyo.
