Symposium and Workshop: Beyond Sustainable Architecture and Smart City: Re-Humanization of Urban Spaces

In recent years, natural disasters, terrorism, and migrations have made it sometimes difficult to maintain peaceful, ‘ordinary’ lives in the cities. How should architecture respond to such situations and challenges? Where should architecture strike a balance between individual and collective realities and needs? On 8th and 9th July at Keio University, EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) Japan cluster organizes a 2-day symposium and series of workshops with participants from eight European Countries and Japan. They will investigate the possible directions for architecture and the city in our common future, based on new and holistic approach to the notion of well-being. From Czech Republic, Osamu Okamura, architect and program director of reSITE international festival and conference, will participate on the symposium and also on workshop.
